About that summer vacation…
Fantastic sun that shines so irresistibly, the ocean which always makes you question the infinity, enormous amount of sand, happy people around you, basically pure joy! Sound of the ocean that calms your down and makes everyone more peaceful and relaxed. Nothing can be more healing and soothing than that. Funny enough those waves actually has the power to change your brain waves and here is how:
A regular person, especially in a city like New York, ends up programming the mind mostly in a hustle zone. City is rough and very competitive. The endless options out there mostly creates fear of missing out. And for most of the people the feeling of “never being enough”. Cause when you have all the options, it means you can be richer, better, fitter, healthier, smarter…. you name it. When thats the case, it makes you feel like, there is no stopping. Naturally stress levels becomes very high and our brains actually thinks that we are in a “fight or flight” zone thanks to all the pressure we put on ourselves. And when you are in that mindset you brain is in “Beta” zone. “Beta brainwaves dominates our normal waking state of consciousness when attention is directed towards cognitive tasks and the outside world. Beta is a ‘fast’ activity, present when we are alert, attentive, engaged in problem solving, judgment, decision making, or focused mental activity.” Being alert at all times, naturally worns you out and eventually by stealing from the immune system, it invites all the health problems to our lives.
When on vaca, we completely move away from that zone. The reason why everything slows down is because our brain waves slows down and eventually shifts to Alpha waves. It is a wakeful relaxing, basically awesomeness. That meditative state, where you can focus and get in a creative zone. That is what a summer vacations does to a person and for that reason it is extremely healing ~ physically, mentally and emotionally.
So never under estimate the power of those waves ~ both in our brains and out in the ocean. Because we all need to slow down to speed up!
