LA ISLA BONITA : San Pedro

Looks like I have been waiting for the perfect day to write about my trip to Belize and today is the day. A rainy Saturday in NYC where you have all the excuses to stay at home, get lazy, think about those amazing sunny days in San Pedro.

I have been thinking about planing a trip to Belize City for a while. It was just a matter of finding that perfect break since it is kind of a long trip. Even thought it is smooth and easy it takes a while which in my case it was approximately about eight hours of traveling. NYC to ATL to Belize City followed by a ninety minute long boat ride is what takes you to San Pedro Island along with a breath taking blue…

The island is really really small. It took us approximately 15mins to arrive to our boutique hotel “White Sands Cove” insanely cute, super local. Our room and the vibe of the hotel exceeded my expectations quite honestly with super welcoming local hosts and their relaxing mood.

As soon as I arrive to the island, there is this amazing feeling of disconnecting yourself from everything but the moment. Time suddenly slows down, every minute feels much longer, much deeper. Perfect combination of sun, sand and peace. What else you even need? Other than few books to read, shades and sunscreen.

Even though I was packed pretty light, ended up only wearing only half of I packed. Seriously all you need in that island is a pair of bikinis, flip flops and shorts. Okay maybe a tank or two as well. Book to read and A LOT of sun screen. No need nothing else. You will most likely be reading few pages and jumping in the water – it is pretty humid and really hot – and keep repeating.

In the late afternoon you might wanna check out the San Pedro city center. Get ready it is literally three or four streets in total. And that is what I meant when I say it is really small, LOL. Cute local stores where you can buy hand made bags or small gifts as well as amazing coconut ice-cream. One of the best I have had in my life I can say.

Looking for a good spot to eat in the city center? Elvi’s Kitchen and maybe a frozen margarita in the Pier while watching some stringrays float around. Yeah that was crazy! If you wanna stroll around in the island, you can either get a cab, bike or rent a golf car. That is the funnest part of being in a mini island I feel like, everywhere is super close. The second morning we jumped in our mini golf car and drove to AK’BOWL aka the yoga place. You can start your day with a relaxing yoga session at the pier and then have yummy food. Their breakfast was delicious and the view/beach worth checking out.

If you wanna catch the sunset, then TRUCK STOP – where at the back you will find a mini sunset sight spot where you can grab your food and watch the sun goes down. Note that you are not allowed to jump in the water because there are crocodiles around and they swear that it is not a joke! oops so you have been warned;)

Cheers from the island of La Isla Bonita 🙂
